Runes & Astrology
A follow-up article on the podcast
A few days ago I recorded a podcast with Ezekiel from Wheels of Ezekiel substack.
We discussed whether there are correlations between them.
It was only at the end of the podcast that I said something with which I want to preface this article: There is no evidence what so ever that the Norse and Germanic people had something akin to astrology. And if they did, then it was by no means as extensive or carved out as what we now know to be western astrology.
That said, I am a purist when it comes to runes.
I dislike mixing them up with different (foreign) traditions, and that is because that is already being done by etsy witches and new agers to a ridiculous and sometimes perversely exaggerated extent. I care for troth. And there must at all times be people that carry the purity of runic philosophy and esoterica with them, to pass it on in that form. Otherwise it becomes too diluted, too watered down and pacified to be palatable to the masses … masses that have no business getting involved in any esoterica to begin with. The ancients went to great lengths to keep “normies and npc’s” out of occultism. Which in large part was for their own protection too.
Would it be nice to have something of the kind? Maybe. I think that Western Astrology already works and is as close to perfect and exact as can be. Whatever runic overlay we put on it would at the end of the day only be cosmetic.
But.
I will and did acknowledge that runes and astrology are compatible to a not small degree. And that there can be correlations drawn between the two systems and that they can compliment each other. Which we discussed at length in the podcast:

So in this article I want to go a bit deeper into it. And perhaps come a bit closer to a more coherent interplay between the two than the diagram we showed in the podcast.
