Any kind of jam, marmalade or pickles leave a bombsite in the kitchen! I have made Haw jam and leather with the strained pulp and sea salt. Bullace and Medlar jam are good with pigeon or game both grow in my garden) I have ventured into plum chutney as well when friends had delivered a glut of fruit. I love picked onions but that's another car crash in the kitchen. Whilst it is onerous, I do find a deep satisfaction upon seeing the 'fruits' of my labour! No pun intended. I have a number of elders in the garden and have considered making a syrup but I am haunted by the thought of the mess! It's my OCD you see.
We add cloves to ours, also going to make a tincture ☺️
great idea!
We make this every year. It's a great immune booster for the kids
